5th Grade Transition Meeting

On Tuesday, April 30th at 6:00 P.M., there will be a Parent Orientation Meeting at the Sixth Grade Center located at 715 E.Madison. This orientation meeting, held in the gymnasium, is for fifth grade parents who will have a child at the Sixth Grade Center for the 2012-2013 school year.

From 6:00-6:30  there will be a presentation in the gym where we will go over scheduling, enrollment procedures, lunch schedules, identification cards, handbook policies, and other pertinent information. There will be time for questions after the formal presentation is completed. At 6:30 current Sixth Grade Center students and staff will put on a Curriculum Fair where we will feature many of our courses and content. Our Student Council students will be available to serve as  guides and will lead tours of the facility.

The information that we will share with parents/guardians will mirror what will be shared with your student. Sixth Grade Center staff will host each elementary school at the SGC and visit them at their elementary school. The campus visit will give the students the knowledge they need to begin making scheduling decisions and will answer many of the questions they have about the Sixth Grade Center.

We hope that these meetings will answer many of your questions about the Sixth Grade Center. We look forward to hosting you on our campus on Tuesday, April 30th. Feel free to visit our web site at www.derbyschools.com to learn more about us.

HELP THE SGC GET FREE SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT
We have recently started benefiting from two programs. Target and Coca-Cola have programs where the Sixth Grade Center can reap some benefits for your shopping.

Coca-Cola has a rewards program where you can enter the codes found on the packaging or bottle caps of their products. You can enter the codes yourself and assign them to the Sixth Grade Center or you can send them to school and we can enter them for you. Use this link to send your points to the Sixth Grade Center. http://www.mycokerewards.com/schoolDetails.do?id=1056725630&x=52&y=15

Target also has a rewards program where you can use their Target debit Card to save 5% of your shopping trip and they in turn donate 1% of your purchase total to the Sixth Grade Center. Last year they sent us a check for $100 and we had very minimal participation. Here is a link to tell you more about that program. http://www.target.com/redcard/benefits-target-rewards

We are still collecting Campbell Soup points and Boxtops for Education. All of these items can be turned in to your student's homeroom class. We appreciate your support!
